Passive fund investing for women

Passive funds offer an easy and relatively low-cost way for women to dip their feet into the investment world

Gone are the days when investment decisions were the domain of the men. In today's modern world, women have taken charge of their finances.

To that extent, AMFI data* shows that the number of women mutual fund investors has grown by nearly 60% over December 2019-2022. However, there is still a long way to go.

While women's participation in making investment decisions is rising, it is still low compared to men. So, what can be done about it?

Armed with a basic understanding of various investment avenues, women can take control of their fortune. Does it feel like too much work? Well, there is an easy and relatively low-cost way in which women can dip their feet into the investment world.

One of the easiest ways to invest can be through passive funds. They simply track an underlying index and seek to generate returns as per that. They comprise index funds and exchange-traded funds/fund of funds.

Passive funds have many asset classes under their gamut such as debt, equity, commodities, etc. Depending on your goal and risk appetite, you can choose among these to take care of your investment needs. Moreover, these funds also offer the ability to invest at regular intervals - be it monthly, quarterly or annually.
